I have an HP Pavilion 15 gaming laptop. Recently, I started facing boot loop problems with random restarts. This happened after upgrading the RAM from 1 GB to a total of 16 GB in dual channels. Initially, it worked well until the issues arose. At first, I thought it was a bad SSD and replaced the original one. When the problem continued, I realized Windows only saw 8 GB of RAM. Meanwhile, HWinfo shows both RAM sticks and confirms 16 GB installed, but the BIOS only lists 8 GB. This inconsistency is also shown in the BIOS settings. After some investigation, I found that the lower RAM slot appears to be disabled. The laptop won’t boot with a single stick in that slot, but it works when either stick is placed in the upper slot. It seems confusing why HWinfo detects both sticks while Windows ignores it. What does this mean for my device? Is it likely to fail? Where should I seek help next?
Post your Task Manager tab for RAM, see if there is a chunk in Hardware Reserved...
