I'm searching for 16GB DDR3 RAM that fits your old i7 4790K. So far, only ECC versions are available online.

After reviewing more details, the linked RAM is 2x8 not 1x16. That means the standard 16GB sticks likely aren't available anywhere.

when you can't locate it through a fast web search, it's likely not present. For DRAM, if a company developed 16GB modules, there would probably be just one design, and it doesn't make sense to limit production so much after the extensive research that went into creating it.

Only Intel DDR3 devices could handle up to 32GB of memory, suggesting few companies developed 16GB consumer modules. It’s possible they couldn’t even function properly. Without official backing from Intel, manufacturers wouldn’t have invested in such products either.

I checked eBay and came across a few listings. It mentions compatibility only with AMD CPUs and is sourced from China. The specific model is a 16GB DDR3 "only AMD" unit.

Yes, that's correct. Bulldozer offers memory sticks compatible with higher capacity options, though they are primarily designed for AMD systems. From what I know, they don't support Intel memory directly.
