It's been a while since you last played Gran Turismo 4 on your PS2. Do you think there are similar games available on Steam? You mentioned enjoying playing as real-world vehicles, not just racing cars—so you're looking for something more authentic. Since you don’t drive in real life, you might want to explore titles that focus on realistic driving experiences.

I would consider recreating GT1 and GT2 (once I buy the discs), upscaling them, smoothing rough areas, and paying for the extra work. Alternatively, using a newer version of Forza might be a better option.

The closest options seem to be UWP titles like Forza Motorsport 7 and Forza Horizon 3 and 4. Project CARS mainly highlights exotic and racing vehicles, while Assetto Corsa targets hardcore racing fans. It’s not ideal—it feels like a compromise I have to make just to enjoy driving a semi-regular car.

You can buy a small fee for the Xbox PC game pass for one month to enjoy Forza 4. Alternatively, you might want to check out "Next Car Game," an indie title known for its realistic car crashes and driving features.

Project Cars 2 is available for a very affordable price thanks to the current Steam promotion. Assetto Corsa could be an alternative, though I haven't tried it before. The choice really depends on how extensive your desired car options should be.
