The standard controls on most PC games are set by default. If you're aiming for a specific feel, it's worth considering using a console for consistency. As mentioned in the context of the Mass Effect series, the default setup can vary, especially around the peak levels.
I just wrapped up Portal 2 and was impressed by it. Dark Souls 3 offers a solid challenge if you're willing to try. Online invasions exist but are easily turned off. Bioshock titles are quite strong. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Hitman series, and GTA games are all solid choices—no need for multiplayer. The Witcher 3 is really impressive.
It's becoming quite challenging these days if you're not interested in RPGs. Most titles now include RPG elements, so it's important to define what you mean by avoiding them. When you say no RPGs, which systems or mechanics are you looking to skip? This approach seems a bit dismissive. I believe around half of my recent favorites have been games I'd prefer using with the Xbox controller: Dark Souls, The Witcher 3, and nearly all Platinum titles. Using analog controls on PC is perfectly fine when needed. What about racing wheels and flight controllers? These often don't work well with a keyboard and mouse, a situation that has persisted for years.
PCMR stays with consoles, though they’re still around at about 30. That’s not bad, just not that high.
