This problem began on my second PC. The keyboard would randomly stop working at unpredictable times. Pressing various keys repeatedly would trigger actions like opening browsers or Internet Explorer, sometimes unexpectedly, and then the computer would shut down immediately.

I attempted several solutions:
The ports aren’t the problem—I can use other devices in the same ports without issues...only keyboards.
I uninstalled keyboard drivers multiple times, ran the keyboard troubleshooter, tried a new keyboard, reinstalled Windows 7, upgraded to Windows 10, updated BIOS and restored CMOS to default.

I suspect the motherboard might be the cause, though I’m not certain. I used the PC for hours without connecting a keyboard, and it worked fine. Only when a keyboard was connected did it behave strangely.

I considered giving away the PC, but this issue makes me doubt that possibility.
Additionally, I tried using key tweak to disable Ctrl and Alt buttons, but it had no effect. The buttons would still work normally, yet the keyboard would still open and close unexpectedly.

Throughout my life, I’ve used this PC constantly. I’ve never encountered such an unusual problem before.
At the very least, I’d like to understand what’s causing this issue—it might not be software at all?
And a GPU, CPU, or RAM wouldn’t be responsible. I can only guess about the motherboard, but why and how...this is really confusing.

Update your post with complete hardware details and operating system information (including edition and version).
Identify the ports currently in use, such as front, back, hub, etc.
Provide make and model specifications for both the original and new keyboard.
It has been noted that you reinstalled Windows 7 and upgraded to Windows 10.
Inform whether any preferred applications, games, or tools were installed or reinstalled.
Check if any anti-virus or malware scans have been performed.
Run Task Manager and Resource Monitor to assess system performance, using each tool individually.
Observe any changes around the moment the keyboard starts typing randomly.
This may require some time and patience; prepare the windows and expand the view for clarity.
In Task Manager, review the Startup section for any unrecognized applications launching at startup.
Consider using Process Explorer (Microsoft, free) to investigate potential processes causing random keystrokes.
You might find some process that initiates the random typing.
Also, verify whether the random typing occasionally halts on its own, possibly due to an app timing out after a certain duration.
Examine Task Scheduler for any scheduled tasks that could trigger such behavior under specific conditions.
The goal is to understand what occurs or changes when ghost typing begins.

The port connected directly to the motherboard is what I believe now. Regarding the specifications: the CPU is an i3 2120, the motherboard is Gigabyte P61-AD3 revision 2, there are two 4GB of RAM, and the GPU is my GTX 750 Ti from a previous machine. The operating system is currently Windows 10 Pro, which I recently updated and installed all necessary drivers, so updates shouldn't be an issue. Concerning the keyboard, I’m unsure about the make and model—I think they are likely standard Chinese keyboards. Everything else you mentioned, I’m not familiar with, but I’ll proceed as instructed and test it. However, the problem persists even when using BIOS or Windows setup. It seems unlikely to be a program since it can’t survive two system format changes or even during BIOS. It doesn’t matter what software I install because it happens at the very first boot and during setups. But I’ll follow your advice. The random typing keeps going, sometimes I’ve been lucky enough for the sentient keyboard to let me use the PC for a while without shutting it down completely. It either stops quickly or lingers, depending on its mood. It does this even after fresh installs. This isn’t malware; it’s just the keyboard making decisions. Have a great day, and thank you for your help!

Turn off the device, disconnect it, and open the enclosure.
Remove dust and debris carefully.
Check visually and by touch to ensure all connectors, cards, RAM, and jumpers are securely positioned.
Use a bright light to examine all ports, paying close attention near the keyboard connection.
Search for any metal-to-metal contact, particularly around the I/O panel, both inside and outside the case.
Look for exposed wires, cracked connectors, or signs of damage, including the motherboard.
From what you’ve described, it seems there’s a short circuit, with current possibly entering or passing through the keyboard.
This is likely happening if multiple keyboards behave similarly, especially since the issue appears right away despite your efforts.

Thanks again for the help.
Even tho I had checked it before, I did as you told again, carefully inspecting it, the pc isn't dirty or anything, and the motherboard...just looks like any normal motherboard, I can't see anything that diffrent from other motherboards Iv seen, there is no metal touching metal, everything just looks fine...
So I'm guessing at this point, there is no saving, unless you have something else.
Either way, thanks a ton for the help and effort you put
Have a great day!
