Your current setup with a 12400 has a VRM that should comfortably handle a 13600k. Just confirm your power supply is rated for higher voltage and current if needed.

I'm curious about the 13600k price point—why not go higher? A 13700 usually comes close in value, or you could opt for 13600. The power ceiling isn't fully unlocked, so most tasks like gaming won't push it to its limit.

Wasting funds happens when you pair a k SKU CPU with a B660 board; there are many other locked CPUs available at similar prices that perform better on this platform.

I used the 13600k as a sample; a 13700 would be sufficient in my opinion.

I concur on the 13700, often recommending 13700F configurations, though I believe the 13600 isn't a true Raptor Lake CPU. The specs there—1.25MB L2, 4800 memory, C0 die matching Alder Lake—don’t quite fit. The 13600K seems to be the correct update, while Intel appears to have moved forward with the 14600 and 14600K.
