CPU model is 7800x3D, motherboard is ASRock B650M with lightning features. I have two Gen4 NVMe drives and one Gen3 NVMe SSD. MoBo supports Gen5x4 via CPU and Gen4x4 via chipset. Remaining PCIe slot will run at x4 using the CPU for Gen3 SSD and another Gen4 slot for Gen4 SSD. MoBo also has a Gen4x2 M.2 but it won't affect performance. For normal use, I won't notice any speed issues in the Gen4x4 slot via chipset. Regarding synthetic benchmarks, I'm unsure about the results. The 650 chipset with a 4-lane DMI link will use Gen4 speed.
