I'm curious about whether the Q-LED display on many Asus motherboards functions without a CPU installed. From what I understand, UEFI BIOS needs a running CPU and RAM to load properly. The person on Reddit mentioned the Q-LED didn't light up until the CPU was added, which suggests it depends on that component. I doubt I can jump to conclusions just because it doesn’t illuminate in some cases. If confirmed that the LED only works with an active CPU, it seems more like a marketing feature rather than essential functionality.

I believe it functions only on a CPU. I’m not entirely sure, but it seems likely since otherwise it would be too obvious. The Q-LED isn’t just for marketing—it can also indicate whether a pin is damaged or if there’s proper contact, among other things… hope this helps!
