Spotted an amazing offer on a used prebuilt today. Ibuypower with a 9700F, 16gb RAM, 480gb SSD, 1tb HDD, and RTX 2070 Super. Dell S2716dg monitor, K70 keyboard, and a wired Corsair mouse. All pieces were included for $800. Curious how the 9700F is performing now in gaming? I’m currently running a Ryzen 5600G and RTX 3060 in an HP prebuilt I bought for $1280 at Best Buy.

It's approximately a Ryzen 3 5300G in terms of speed.

I'm currently running a 9700k and haven't pushed it beyond benchmarks yet. Just need to ensure you install a decent cooler. My setup uses an NH-D15, though you might not require such high settings with the non-k variant.

It was frustrating because I picked it up on my way to work, leaving it in my car until I could get home and play some games. I thought I couldn't afford it. I really needed a monitor, and it looks like Dell is a solid choice.

It's certainly adequate for a standard CPU. There are still opportunities to enhance its performance.

I question if the performance gap won’t be obvious when both have fast RAM speeds. The 5600G edges slightly ahead over the 9700F, and the 3060 comes close to the 2070 model. When deciding which setup is preferable for the future, the Ryzen option offers a more robust upgrade route.
