I'm assembling a Minecraft modpack for myself and a few pals. We've tried many packs already, so I wanted to give it a shot just for fun. I'm running the server on my desktop and a client separately on the same machine. My hardware is a Ryzen 7 3700X, Radeon RX 5700 XT, 32GB RAM all on an SSD, using Windows 10. I often face lag spikes with noticeable stuttering. In the Resource Monitor, two threads spike during these moments, and they happen while world generation is happening—like moving straight through a blocky landscape. I'm curious: can we separate world generation into its own thread while keeping the rest of the game running smoothly? Would it be feasible to isolate that process? I'd love practical solutions and deeper technical reasons if this isn't possible.

Hi, what server software are you running? There are some slow mods installed. I was using Dragon and Fire in a powerful cloud service, but it was lagging during battles with high and ice dragons. Generally, if you have mods enabled, you might try Forge or another modded server. I’m not sure how to set that up exactly, but I think Bukkit and similar tools are multithreaded, so more research would be helpful. I wrote this just to explore other options.

Forge is the only option I've explored since the Twitch launcher was introduced. I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding, but based on what my friend who runs a server says, Bukkit seems more suited for plugins rather than mods.

Bukkit is mainly for plugins. However, I need to revisit my research—it seems it can boost Minecraft performance and work well with other mods using a strange tool name.
