You can use both USB 3.2 and 3.1 headers together, but make sure your setup supports dual-mode operation. Since you're using a Fractal Design Core 500 with a 5.25 bay hub and an ITX board, running an add-in card isn't feasible.

It seems uncertain; consider reaching out to ASUS directly for clarification.

I just reviewed the manual and it doesn’t seem very useful. It mentions different ports but doesn’t clarify they’re on separate controllers. Are they distinct enough to require different controllers? Since there’s a USB 2.0 header, it might be possible to run some ports off that. I’ll email ASUS, but I doubt it will help much.

I received a reply from ASUS confirming your interest in the STRIX B550-I GAMING. They asked if you could use both USB 3.2 and USB 3.1 headers simultaneously. From your message, it seems the ports are generally compatible, but since one is USB 3.1 and the other USB 3.2, only the USB 3.1 will function properly. It’s possible both ports might not work together at once. Thank you for reaching out; we appreciate your patience and want to make sure your experience with us is positive. Even ASUS support isn’t certain, so I’ll stick to USB 2.0 for now.
