I handle a lot of CPU-driven 3D work and bought three AMD Ryzen 9 7950X chips. One lives on my main workstation with an MSI X670 Pro Wifi board, the other two are render nodes on MSI Pro A620M-E units (micro ATX). When I ran Cinebench R23 using default BIOS settings, here were the numbers: MSI X670 Pro Wifi: 37990 @ 290 watts; A620M-E (1): 31037 @ 149 watts; A620M-E (2): 30273 @ 141 watts. It looks like the micro ATX board is forcing these CPUs into what would normally be the 65W eco setting. Noticing the absence of a TDP configuration option in the A620M-E BIOS, which does exist on the X670, it’s unusual for micro ATX boards to run at such low power. Since I can’t adjust TDP there, how can I set the CPU to 105W eco instead?

You're highlighting the difference in power delivery between premium and budget motherboards. The A620 lacks effective VRMs with heatsinks, limiting its ability to supply the CPU adequately. I believe a top-tier X670 MicroATX would match your ATX setup well. Form factor doesn't really matter for performance. The Tercel's launch control is conveniently placed on the dash of the Lexus LFA!

It's fascinating how much variation exists between motherboards. Fortunately, I was planning to use them in 65W eco mode anyway because of their better power efficiency. As long as the 'low end' setting doesn't affect the CPU performance, I'll stick with these boards. I'll remember this next time.
