Currently, there are no reports of people using Skype on Ubuntu at the moment. Many users experience crashes during startup, freezing for a short time before displaying an error about being frozen. Both Stable and Insider versions behave similarly, though the Insider version appears to perform slightly better. It’s installed through Snap, which is the official method. I’ve used Skype on LinuxMint without issues, even when installed via Flatpak.
