It seems unclear why you're sending this question back. As mentioned, if you're satisfied with the performance of your laptop while the case is open, you're welcome to share it. After all, you're using the laptop yourself, not someone else. @IkeaGnome is just offering advice on whether your device runs optimally when the case is closed.
Sorry for being a bother, but I'm trying to figure out what settings improve performance for my laptop. Generally, keeping it inside a case can help, but if you're looking for the best results, consider adjusting those settings.
Well, run the tests, and run it long enough. There's empty space in that cabinet, yes There's a gap between the cabinet and the wall, maybe. How much? idk. Is there air in the empty space in the cabinet? yes. The question : Once your laptop run long enough and expels enough hot air into the cabinet, will the gap be enough for fresh colder air to displace the warm/hot air quickly enough. If not, then the inside of that cabinet going to be filled with mostly warm/hot air, which then your laptop gonna try to cool itself using it. And that most likely will increase your temp. Will it increase high enough that your laptop throttles? idk. Is there space between the laptop's bottom and the surface you put it on? yes. But the space is usually really narrow that the fan is actually having a bit of trouble getting fresh air, that's why usually propping the bottom of laptop even just an inch helps with cooling. Hence why I said, prop the laptop even just a bit, you can use almost anything, just make sure it doesn't block the fan holes. Want to save space while having the laptop have access to more fresh air ? Simple enough. Pick one :: 1. Keep the cabinet door open, maybe it will be enough for your laptop to not throttle 2. Buy something or DIY one like what I linked in my first reply and place the laptop on the wall, with the fans facing out. Be smart, don't just use double tape, screw the bracket into the wall. 3. Buy a standing laptop dock that fits your laptop, or DIY one. Example : https://www.amazon.com/ORANGEHOME-Vertic...x=standing laptop doc,aps,359 4. Buy a wall mounted laptop tray.
