I use Office 365 mainly for the 1TB cloud storage, it was the best offer I found, and I've had a Microsoft email account for more than ten years. My problem is on Win11, I only have a local account set up. When I downloaded Office and logged in, it seemed to want to link Windows to my Microsoft account, almost turning my local account into a Microsoft one. Is there any way, even possible, to prevent Office from taking over my Windows account? Before anyone asks, I reinstalled Windows not logging out afterwards as I do several times a year, so my local account was restored.

when using a local account and opening an app that requires a Microsoft account, logging in within that app to your online account keeps the Windows session as a local account.

A checkbox is present during sign-in to apps needing a Microsoft account, restricting access to Microsoft applications. It shows up only when you're signing in to that account for the first time using your local account.
