It's not surprising, I believed it was just the custom tradition of the Ryzen 5 1600, which was around $200 new. My argument remains, I got a better deal on a 2700X two years prior, but the more you learn...

10400f offers identical pricing with significantly quicker availability. I wouldn't consider Zen 1 or Zen+ for this transaction, and a genuine Zen 2 would need to be extremely affordable.

I wouldn't purchase a first-gen Ryzen for anything other than office work in 2021. It performed sluggishly right out of the box and even worse now. Based on my own experience, it was slower for most tasks compared to my 2013 i5-4570.
