Avoid handing them the keys. The Windows license is linked to the machine, not the user. You can only release it if you genuinely discarded the device. If you transferred it, the license remains with the machine.

Windows retains just the active key. Without manually pressing different keys on the case, it keeps only the one currently used for activation.
