Yes, it is feasible to run a virtual machine without an integrated GPU using KVM. AMD Ryzen 5 5600X and AMD Radeon RX 6000 series can be used in the guest OS, though performance may vary.

However, this reduces the overall benefit since the GPU is limited to being used either on the host or the KVM, not both at once. To begin KVM with passthru, the current Linux session must be terminated, preventing any switching during use. The host remains reachable only through SSH while the KVM is running. This setup feels like a dual-boot scenario—similar to saving a few minutes for a minor performance drop.

Attempted to route GPU through a single GPU and one monitor in Ubuntu. The display turns off and the monitor shows nothing when launching a VM.

I needed to adjust and add the Nvidia vbios into the config to make it function. I notice you're using AMD—perhaps you should also provide KVM with the vbios folder? I managed to get it working following this guide: https://gitlab.com/risingprismtv/single-...iting-GRUB As for the value of the method — it depends on the situation. Running a Windows VM offers advantages, along with the flexibility of managing its disk as a file you can change or remove whenever needed.

It seems unclear why the entire PCI device isn't handled, as both components remain inside the VM for clarity.
