I need to assemble a setup with several PCs. Current boards usually offer up to four PCIe slots, but PCIe Gen 4 doubles the bandwidth. I'm trying to divide a PCIe 16x connection into two or more segments. Are there any products that provide this functionality, such as riser cables leading to expansion boards?
Only a handful of these boards are available, yet they tend to be quite costly. You might consider using PCIe switches for this purpose. If you're managing several users on a single computer, explore multipoint software to enable multiple users on one GPU easily.
The nearest item I discovered was a card on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0037KAE2O/ref...xFbMGR5TFV. It's just the second version. Appreciate your help. Planning to review that other discussion about splitting Gen 4. For the Threadripper 3000 series, the chipset provides sufficient Gen 4 lanes for several GPUs since only the RTX 3000 series exceeds what 8x Gen 4 can handle. I don’t see any boards with seven slots; only four are available. Linus also set up a multi-computer system using Epyc, but it’s not worth the cost compared to the Threadripper.
