I'm new to this topic. My internet connection uses a Wi-Fi spot from my ISP, and when it restarts it updates my IP address. I’m wondering if it’s feasible to get a fixed IP while keeping all the features working.

You're looking for a fixed IP address while using your mobile hotspot. That's not straightforward. You'd need to reach out to their sales or technical support team. They might even ask for a fee since public IP addresses (IPv4) are scarce and disappearing fast. Occasionally, they don't even offer this option at all. Even if they do, it's generally not recommended. With a hotspot, your firewall options are greatly restricted, and frequent attacks can drain your data quickly.

Sure, I'll clarify that. Are you referring to the public IP address or the internal IP address?

You're focusing on maintaining a stable static IP for your GTA Online sessions. Since you're using a firewall and need to avoid connection issues, it makes sense to reach out to your ISP about setting up a dedicated IP. It's understandable to want more control over your online presence.

Acknowledge the caution. Public IP addresses can pose risks if handled improperly. Be mindful of this warning.

I just wanted to mention that static IPs can be expensive. I've heard some ISPs don't allow them on residential connections at all. Also, some only sell them in groups of about five. Is this related to a gateway from a cable or wired phone provider, or are you using a cellular connection? I'm just asking because if you're on the first two options, it shouldn't be too difficult. On the cellular side, getting a static IP is usually more challenging. Most US cellular providers don't provide customers with public IPv4 addresses anymore. We've run out of those already.

It's a mobile network. As someone from India, I'm hoping we still have plenty of IPv4 addresses available there.

IPv4 offers only about 4 billion unique addresses, but this number doesn't change based on countries. It's far too limited for today's needs, which is why we're moving to IPv6. My cellular provider, Sprint, provides public IP addresses for just $3 a month—what a great deal!
