You're at version 15.4 and thinking about updating to 15.7. It's confusing what steps to follow. Most people usually uninstall the driver, restart, then reinstall the new version. Some tried tools like CCleaner or even AMD's utility, but it seems unclear if skipping uninstallation works. You might want to check the official documentation for your graphics card or software for the best method.

I believe the most effective method is using Nvidia’s “Clean Installation” feature—it removes and reinstalls everything, similar to uninstalling and reinstalling drivers. It’s secure to delete AMD drivers and replace them to prevent future issues. You’ll usually hear the same advice: when a driver fails, simply uninstall and reinstall it.

I removed the software yesterday with DDU, then set up 15.7, but Explorer.exe crashes every time I launch CCC. The drivers function correctly in games, so it’s not a big issue right now.

It was a smooth update alert; I used only my HD5450 for watching anime.

I usually start with DDU, then install any new drivers, which helps fix many issues early on.
