I believe this could be clearer. Picture a job needing 2GB of memory (skip the OS). With a 32GB drive and a 1GB drive, you can allocate 1GB each, maintaining balanced speed. Now consider a 4GB job. Only 1GB fits on the smaller drive, so 3GB must go to the larger one. To retrieve all the data, you’ll need three times longer with the bigger drive than the smaller. The more memory demand, the closer it feels to single-channel limits. Certain tasks might face more RAM restrictions than bandwidth, making mismatched drives less critical. For jobs sensitive to memory speed, matching drives is advisable.
