I'm using a G.Skill Trident Z with 16GB single stick RAM and have an extra Corsair Vengence LPX 8GB module. I'm considering combining them. The cache latency on the Vengence is lower (16-18-18-36) compared to my current stick (16-18-18-38). The information is attached. Would both work together smoothly or could there be any issues? Experts welcome any advice.

You probably won’t face any issues combining these two. Sure, it won’t be a full dual-channel setup, but that’s not the main focus right now. Also, the topic is CAS latency—Column Access Strobe.

It wouldn't work fully in dual channel because the signals align at the same frequency on both channels, causing interference and loss of quality.

Since each unit has varying sizes, we'll split the 16 GB of G.Skill into two sections—8 GB each. One of those 8 GB will use dual-channel with the Corsair stick, giving you dual-channel performance, while the other 8 GB will operate in single-channel mode. This setup is known as Flex Mode.

Would you prefer this Flex Mode over your current setup with 16GB SSD, especially since your PC is mainly used for gaming?

Absolutely, you're boosting performance. You're expanding storage and utilizing some of the available memory through dual-channel mode using an extra RAM module that was on hand—no risk involved!
