If you're an XMP user, consider it unless you need a completely new CPU. Changing your motherboard solely for DDR5 won't significantly impact performance. From my perspective, the biggest improvements will appear on a discounted 13/14700k model.

Raptor Lake design supports DDR5 speeds whereas the 12th gen Alder Lake stays within 4000MHz and below. The gap between DDR4 and DDR5 on Alder Lake is 5% or less, while Raptor Lake and RLR (Raptor Lake Refresh) show a 15% increase.

Capture the burner image of your DDR4 setup after boosting it to 4000 MHz with tighter secondary and tertiary settings. This should reduce the performance gap caused by XMP DDR5 support.
