Hey everyone, I've been out of the loop since the 7700K and planning to upgrade. I was thinking about getting the 5700X when it arrives, but it seems AMD isn't making one yet. Now I'm hoping DDR5 will be out soon, since it looks like it's coming up soon. Are next-gen CPUs and mobile chips going to use DDR5?

It's challenging to provide specific responses, but a positive answer seems probable.

Usually, yes—things aren’t normal, and the latest models are still selling well. There doesn’t seem to be a strong push to release new items (for AMD), so we’ll have to wait and observe.

I believe I've seen that Intel's next gen will have both DDR4 and DDR5 motherboards, no clue about AMD. If it's anything like the DDR3 to DDR4 transition it's not going to be a very significant upgrade for a few years.
