I thought it would work but my friend doubted it and raised the volume. I kept it low since I believed it might affect gameplay. I’m still puzzled about all the mouse-related stuff.

I've kept my mouse preferences set to standard in Windows, except for that odd "improve pointer accuracy" option, and everything worked fine.

It varies by game. Generally, most titles offer a "raw mouse input" setting, which is usually enabled unless specified otherwise.

Game sensitivity depends mainly on the in-game settings. However, DPI influences how fast the mouse moves within the game.
