Uncertain about more than eight cores (probably not), but having more than two sockets makes it unlikely. Each processor has its own memory controller, leading to different system RAM speeds and creating a NUMA node. Programs must be tailored for multiple NUMA nodes, which isn't supported by standard software. Technically, older systems with separate controllers don’t support this anymore.

It may support additional cores, yet most games struggle with dual CPU setups and often reduce speed when using two CPUs. A real improvement would come from a dedicated gaming CPU with strong single-core performance while maintaining sufficient cores. What options do you currently have?

This Xeon E5 2667 V2 is essentially one of the top CPUs for my system.

On that platform, you won't see a significant improvement in gaming performance. Even a reasonably older Ryzen would offer a substantial boost. This path is better suited for someone using an older Ryzen 1600 (don't go for it) rather than competing with an Xeon.
