I rarely encounter viruses or malware. Perhaps it's adware from YouTube.

Avoid using antivirus software. Numerous reliable options are free and barely affect system performance.

Absolutely, connecting USB devices and varying your online habits makes a difference. Just remember, common sense isn't sufficient—be mindful of yourself.

I spend most of my time on computers. I watch YouTube documentaries and play games. When needed, I do a quick Google search for projects. I avoid downloading Yahoo games because they often contain viruses.

Avoid Microsoft Security Essentials, but install it for safety. Simple sense remains the top antivirus choice.

MSE is the worst option. AVG is just behind. Among all computers I see daily, the ones with the poorest performance are those running that software. You should always install an antivirus. Common sense doesn’t always cover the situation.

For browsing the web, this forum recommended Web of Trust and Malwarebytes. Those are the essentials you should have. I also use Avg Free as a backup. Combining Web of Trust with Malwarebytes works well.
