Hello everyone! I'm setting up a gaming PC in the coming weeks and seeking advice on its long-term viability. I don’t plan to play at top resolutions like 720p or 1080p—standard quality should suffice. Here’s what I have so far:

- Intel Core i7-4790K, 4.0GHz
- Asus B85 Pro Gamer LGA 1150 M.2 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 RAM with Corsair 1600MHz
- Asus STRIX GTX 960 with 4GB GDDR5 VRAM
- WD 1TB HDD
- BenQ 21.5" Monitor GW2255 Corsair RM750 SMPS
- Cooler Master Storm Devastator cooler
- Keyboard/Mouse Cooler Master K380
- Optical drive for Windows 10

I’d like to run modern games at high settings and need suggestions on titles and optimal configurations for peak performance with little lag. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Lower the performance of the i5 4690K and install a solid Z97 board for boosting. Consider adding a R9 380 4G and a higher-quality power supply.

It's a mid-range amount since it's not too cheap nor overly expensive, unless you prefer lower options in the fourth year.

Your setup seems off. An i7 with a 960 MHz clock speed?

I would choose an AMD card for budget-friendly options. A 960 won’t sustain you for four years with high to ultra performance, especially if you want a functional frame rate.

It works with that processor, though not with a 960.

The additional VRAM will make a big difference later.
