The resizable bar feature is primarily for Nvidia cards, so it may not work with your 9900K and 6800XT. Updating your BIOS won't fix this compatibility issue. It's probably not worth it unless you need that extra flexibility.

Based on what I've learned, resizable bars aren't really a big deal for gaming right now. They might offer only a small to moderate improvement. Their usefulness could increase over time. AMD originally made their resizable bar features exclusive to them, which might have been a marketing move. It seems they haven't made much of an impact overall, so it probably isn't worth digging deeper.
