Hi, I've replaced most of my components except my GPU, which is still a 5-year-old 1070 Ti. My previous PSU was a weak one in the tier list—520 Watts Seasonic M12II EVO 80+ Bronze (Tier E). I upgraded to a 650 Watts Seasonic Focus GX 80+ Gold, which is Tier A and a solid PSU. The issue now is coil whine on my GPU during gaming or heavy load, something that didn’t occur in my last build or even if it did. My old PCIe cable was a standard 8-pin to 8-pin connection. The new PSU’s cable is a direct 8-pin to 2x8-pin setup. I’ve read that switching to a direct 8-pin can reduce coil whine compared to using a PCIe splitter, possibly due to better power delivery. I’m also thinking about upgrading to an RTX 4070, which uses a single 8-pin, so I want to know if a direct connection is better than my current one. I’m not an expert, but I’d appreciate some advice. Thanks! Attached is the cable I’m using for comparison.
