I own a high-end RTX 2070 and an i7 7700. My CPU shouldn’t be limiting the GPU performance much, but I suspect the motherboard might be the issue. My GB800 GA B250M-D2V is still causing problems—games like BF5, MW, and Rainbow Six on 2K at medium/low settings drop to around 20 FPS every few seconds. After cleaning everything up, nothing seems to help. What upgrades should I consider?

Yes. It can bottleneck both, depending on the mobo.

Additional details about the system specifications would be useful since several factors can lead to gaming issues, such as insufficient RAM, using a SATA drive instead of an SSD, or a mix of both.

Your RAM supports dual-channel operation.

ram might be the issue, though its 16gb at 2133mhz isn’t related. I’m using an ssd for those games.

That's the highest performance a typical motherboard can achieve.

It can handle more, but it isn't compatible.

Oh wow... got it. Just two DIMMs installed, right? Sounds like you’ve filled them up because they’re at full capacity. You might want to consider a different motherboard next time.

You might want to consider a CPU upgrade if it means fitting into a different socket, which would be better.
