Hello! Upgrading from your FX-6300 and ASRock board to a RYZEN processor means you’ll need to reinstall all your software and OS. You won’t be able to just plug in the old drive and continue where you left off. Your shopping list includes two options: one on Amazon and another with a link. For medium gaming, photo editing, and light video work, RYZEN should handle it well. If you’re looking for something more budget-friendly, consider DDR4 RAM which can be cheaper than the price tag. I chose red for the RAM to match your motherboard, even though you have a white NZXT Phantom 530.

Windows 10 works smoothly out of the box, but I’ve tried similar setups before. Windows 7 doesn’t work well—laptop to laptop transfers failed, and now I’m seeing boot issues.

I switched from Intel Skylake (i3 6100) to AMD Ryzen (Ryzen 7 1700) and experienced minimal problems. Restarting the system would be preferable, but it works well as a stepping stone.

I've also upgraded recently, last week from my FX 8350. I can tell you the change is huge—day and night. You just plug in your HDD or SSD, and everything works perfectly. I went with the Ryzen 1600, similar to what others recommend. Most people say it's not worth it for the X, but RAM is a big plus. The 16GB (8x2) at 2400Hz is less power-hungry yet still does the job and costs less. Here’s the link: https://www.gskill.com/en/product/f4-2400c15d-16gvr For gaming, it should work fine—depends on the titles. Hope this helps Smile) EDIT::: Never reinstalled Windows, it still works perfectly.

It’s a good idea to reinstall the operating system after swapping the motherboard. It could help, though problems might still arise.

Ensure your operating system is reinstalled each time you replace motherboards.

Getting positive updates keeps coming. I’ll probably reinstall later, just to avoid starting fresh. Great! Really helpful! Isn’t the X related to overclocking? In the future I hope to get a NZXT Kraken X62. Since I’m at work right now, I’ll watch the video when I get home in about 2 and a half hours. Also, how do I tag people without quoting them? This long post is a bit tiring.

Does your device function properly? If yes, I'll hold off on purchasing until the Ryzen update is complete.

I wouldn't even claim the 1600 is "for overclocking." I've seen many people using the 1600 to 4.0/4.1Ghz. The 1600 performs better in terms of performance per dollar. Still, if you can afford it, go for the X. :Smile) Nonetheless, I still believe the 1600 is superior to the 1600x.

I’ll examine it more closely before deciding to click Buy Now. Thanks! The links provided point to Amazon pages for two items. It seems the cost difference isn’t significant, which might make XFR a good option.
