Hello, your PC setup involves an older MSI B350 with a PCI-E 3 slot and a 3080 GPU. You're considering upgrading to a Ryzen 5 5500 but are concerned about potential performance issues or bottlenecks. Since you mainly play at 1440p, the main focus is on whether the new CPU will keep up without causing noticeable lag. The motherboard's age and condition shouldn't be a major issue unless it's severely outdated. Overall, the Ryzen 5 5500 should work well for your needs if the GPU isn't too demanding. Let me know if you need more details!

No, it's not sufficient. I’d need at least a 5600; even with a 3070, the 5500 might cause a bottleneck. There’s usually a minor constraint, but overall it stays fairly even.

Purchase a pre-owned 5600(x) since current new prices are poor; buying used is a smarter choice.
