Hey, I made my PC about a year and a half ago and it’s been running okay despite some minor problems I fixed myself. Last night while playing Apex, my game crashed and I saw the blue screen of death. My computer kept crashing, rebooting, and showing the same error repeatedly. I tried clean restarts, reinstalling Windows, and more, but nothing helped until I got a completely black screen with no input detected on both monitors. At that stage, I suspected a GPU problem because my old GPU had been replaced several times and worked fine elsewhere. But when I tested it on another machine, it functioned properly, so I dismissed the GPU issue. That’s when I noticed the yellow LED on my motherboard indicating a DRAM problem. To try to fix it, I did the following:
- Reinstalled RAM in the right slots and cleaned them
- Reinstalled the CPU, thermal paste, and cooler to check for damage or installation issues, being careful not to over-tighten the cooler
- Swapped cables, cleaned ports, and double-checked all connections
- Reset CMOS using the battery and briefly short-circuited the dedicated pins
My specs are: RYZEN 3900X from Gigabyte, WindForce 980 by Corsair, 32GB DDR4 RAM, NOCTUA NH12A from ASUS, TUF Gaming 570x Plus from Corsair, 750W Gold PSU, Samsung EVO 980 M.2 SSD (OS), Seagate Barracuda HDD.
I really need someone to help me with this because I’m quite confused. I’ve attached photos of the yellow LED.
