I replaced my motherboard and CPU. The PC starts up but there’s no display. On the motherboard, the DRAM indicator shows a solid yellow light—uncertain about the issue. Model: MSI Tomahawk Z790, i9-13900K, DDR5 RAM.

Disconnect all RAM and insert one stick into the second slot away from the CPU. Check if it posts. If successful, change the sticks to confirm others function. If everything works, reinsert into the board. Occasionally it’s just a poor connection.

Attempted one at a time but the light persisted.

Consider testing different slots one by one. If that fails, try using an extra stick to eliminate the RAM problem. Likely the issue lies with the CPU or motherboard.

The setup worked fine, thanks for the feedback! Was that slot functioning properly?

Someone else experienced the same problem recently. The CPU appeared bent, and the pins linking to the first three slots weren’t connecting properly. This suggests a potential CPU-to-socket issue.

Step 1: Inspect the CPU for any physical damage and ensure it’s flat.
Step 2: Examine the socket carefully—check for bent pins and uniform pin height. Also search for other visible defects.
Step 3: Reinstall the CPU and cooler, paying attention to secure mounting pressure. Avoid over-tightening or under-tightening, as this can cause similar issues.

If you don’t find any obvious problems, the motherboard might be the culprit. The safest solution is replacement. It’s unlikely the CPU itself is faulty, but it could be the case.

Same exact issue here with MSI z790p, I spent hours plug unplug things, update bios. It turns out there's a bent cpu pin. I managed to fix it and it boots. So frustrating that brand new board arrived with bent pin.
