I'm working with a PC equipped with a Ryzen 5 3600 and G.Skill Trident Z 3600MHz 2x8 on an MSI B450 Tomahawk Max. Initially, even after enabling XMP, the RAM was limited to 2133 MHz. I had to manually adjust it to 3600 MHz from the BIOS. Recently, I purchased three case fans (1stplayer Firebase G3) and connected them directly via Molex power from the PSU. When I powered on the system, it would restart a few times and display a warning about "Memory overclocking unsuccessfully," then reset the RAM speed back to 2133 MHz. I suspect the issue isn't related to power supply since my PSU is a Cooler Master MWE Gold 650W. Someone can assist me further?

What Ryzen processor are you using? I faced some challenges initially and needed a BIOS update when setting up a Ryzen 1600 system for the first time to ensure stable RAM in the XMP profile. Additionally, I have a 2700x on another machine, which wouldn’t support my 2x16GB configuration at its full capacity of 3200, so I had to lower it to 2933.

Similar problems on an MSI board persisted despite multiple BIOS updates. After purchasing Trident Z B-dies, the issues disappeared entirely (I even boosted them to 3600 MHz).

follow the instructions given if the RAM is in the QVL. Record the main timing values from the sticker, reset the CMOS, and adjust the timings according to your notes. For voltages around 1.35V, manually set them to 1.36V. This method has helped me achieve stable XMP settings on my MSDI motherboard before.
