Asrock Z590 Phantom Gaming 4 mobo i5 10600k XPG DDR4 D50 RGB 32GB (2x16GB) 3600MHz Aorus 3070 nvme m.2 500gb boot drive and nvme m.2 1tb slave windows 10 cooler master liquid cooler 800w power supply. I'm sure some of the stuff you don't need to know but just thought I'd put everything. It's the first pc I built with my boys so it's special to us, which makes this even more irritating. I have tried 3 different sets of RAM all of which the mobo says are compatible. I can run XMP profile 1 just fine and it will run at 3200mhz, no problem. As soon as I turn on profile 2, it takes a few seconds to try to boot and then a black screen that says windows has failed to boot press f2 to boot to UEFI or whatever button to continue. If I continue, when I look at the memory, it is set back to 2333mhz. I have to go back in to bios and change it. If I select auto it will put it to the 3200mhz. I have tried messing with the voltages and nothing seems to work. I have tried different slots for the ram. I am just at a loss and not sure what else to do. I know it's not that big of a difference between 3200 and 3600 but that's not the point. I got it, to run @ 3600. I'm beginning to think it's a mobo problem which is really unfortunate because I've already switched it out once so I could have a Z board and OC one day. I should have just left the other one (mobo) in, that one ran 3600 no problem. Does anyone have any suggestions that I could try, to get this to work? Sorry for the long post. Just wanted to make sure I had everything.

You've already updated your BIOS and still can't power on with XMP II. It seems there might be an issue with the board itself—either software or hardware problems. There’s likely nothing more you can do.

You already have the latest BIOS update installed. I just want to clarify what you're asking about changing it yourself.

I also double-checked the RAM and it doesn<|pad|>, which I thought was correct. It seems there might be a mistake. I plan to buy some new RAM that's on the list and see if it helps. It could be a user error.

You might not find this the most cost-effective solution. Consider changing the RAM configurations through the BIOS and adjusting the timings and speed yourself. You can find some video guides to understand the process better. However, if you prefer not to purchase new components, it's fine to proceed.

I placed some RAM that was listed on Amazon, received it the next day. It’s TForce RAM... Same issue with 3600 MHz... I started testing different slots. A1;A2, B1;B2, A1;B1. Nothing... Until I tried A2;B2... Now it works at 3600, but not in A1,B1. I thought this might be a software problem on the motherboard, but it seems to be functioning now. Also, it runs at 3600 if I use just one stick in any slot.

Generally only one memory profile fits a specific RAM setup, which isn’t unusual—just a user mistake. Using the right slots definitely makes a difference; this should be covered in your manual (it’s included here).
