Hey everyone, I just upgraded my system with 32 GB of RAM and discovered it was clocked at 2133MHz all along! So I went into the BIOS and adjusted it to 3200MHz—easy enough. But then things went haywire this morning: my computer froze with loud pops and the speakers played repeating audio. After turning XMP back on and restarting, it snapped back to 2133. The event viewer showed a memory error, which matched what I suspected. How can I get my RAM running at the right speed? I spent a lot of money and won’t accept anything less than top performance!

You're seeing stable results around 2933 MHz or 2866 MHz with your setup. I can provide detailed timing and voltage specs if needed.

It might help to clarify your situation by acknowledging you're still learning a lot. Is 2933 the highest quality you can expect?

Perhaps. Early Ryzen models and the first two generations lack strong memory controllers. Only the top 1000 series chips can reach 3200 MHz. Many 2000 series units support it, though not all. They’re generally listed for DDR4-2933 only. If you wish to experiment with lower speeds, adjust BIOS settings, enable XMP, and before restarting, navigate to RAM configuration and manually set the speed to DDR4-2933. This will bypass the XMP frequency but retain optimal XMP timings, which are crucial for Ryzen performance. Check your RAM options—settings are usually hidden under "Advanced," then "Memory OC" or "DRAM Settings," sometimes within a broader "Overclocking" section. BIOS behavior varies between models.

I’m excited to give it a shot. I wasn’t aware such issues were typical for CPUs from the 2000 series running at 3200 MHz.

It appears everything functions correctly now, operating at 2933.
