You're considering a PC setup with a Ryzen 5000 series CPU and XMP-3596 CL19 RAM. You're thinking about upgrading to a Ryzen 5 5600 and wondering if the 16GB RAM will support it at its rated speed or higher. If not, you're curious about whether it can handle a minimum of 3200 CL16. The RAM package you have is a 2x16GB TeamGroup Vulcan TUF Gaming Alliance kit.

It's odd the XMP profile is 2 MHz higher than DDR4-3600 (1800 MHz). With a good motherboard, DDR4-3600 should work fine—no need to lower the frequency.

Yes, it should be feasible. You have an R9 5900X with DDR4 at 3600 MT/s and CL16.

You're considering A520M or B450M boards from Gigabyte's DS3H series. These chipsets should generally work, but compatibility depends on your specific motherboard model and BIOS version. The 3596 or 3600 chipset is compatible with these boards, though you may need to verify BIOS support.

The CPU's built-in memory controller must be identified by the board, which only offers a direct link between RAM and CPU. Speeds above 2666 MT/s usually need XMP enabled in the BIOS. https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B45...v-1x/sp#sp Their specifications indicate support for 3600 MT/s.

It should function properly. The main concern is likely tied to your motherboard's auto settings—adjust the CAS latency to 20 instead of 19, as AMD tends to avoid unusual values for performance reasons.
