the app runs on windows 10/11 but its functionality is unclear. do i need extra tools or can i play games directly? i’m trying to get diablo 2 resurrected without a subscription. blizzard seems unreliable, so i’m stuck. authentication issues keep appearing and recovery steps are confusing. on other platforms like xbox, it works fine, but steam doesn’t support diablo 4 yet.
It seems the process isn’t standard. For Xbox on PC, the game must be available as a Play Anywhere title, which only covers a limited part of the Xbox collection. Even if you try to get it via that method, the login requirement likely remains in place.
I'm just going to keep waiting... I still have Daiblo 2 and it's in beta. I really aim for big long-term goals with it. I'm trying to complete every item across all patches and push them up to version 1.13 probably. The beta I'm using is at 1.41 LOD, so I think before 1.07 there are some cool features. But I've got sanders boots—level 7... I'll leave those for later. Singons is around level 29... I really want to compile a list of all the items from each patch so people don't have to guess what stats and items are needed. Edited October 19, 2025 by thrasher_565
The free game on a pass is activated once, allowing you to play it without cost. After use, it typically disappears from your access list unless you renew or reactivate it. Some users notice it gets removed automatically after a certain period, but the exact process can vary by platform. People often ask about this because they see similar offers online.
That is game and platform/account specific. For example if a game is free on Steam, you can add it to your Steam library free of charge. If the game integrates into Steam's DRM, you still need to be signed into your Steam account to be able to play it. Otherwise, you can just download it once, then copy it wherever you want (assuming it has no other DRM that binds it to this specific computer). If you have added a game to your account, but the download is no longer available, you can no longer play it unless you have an existing copy on your local machine. For platforms like GOG, games are generally DRM-free, so you should simply be able to download them (provided you have a GOG account), then keep them forever. But if you lose the download and the game/download option gets removed from GOG, it is effectively no longer available to you. I would assume it's the same for virtually any platform (e.g. Game Pass, etc.). The primary difference is that a Game Pass account requires an ongoing subscription to remain active. Meaning you can download the game and play it free of charge, but you still need to be signed into your account and that account needs to remain active/paid (except for games that are DRM free and you have an existing copy, i.e. games that continue to work while signed out)
it seems the free games are only available to sub accounts, but once the moth expires they disappear. It’s not just simple $3 games—people mention $60 offers, which is confusing. It might be a free game with a download option tied to a sub account. There were also limited-run deals where physical copies were made temporarily, but those had issues like low stock and easy resale.
It varies depending on the situation. Generally, some titles are covered by the subscription without extra charges, though certain offers have expiration dates. Once removed from service, access is lost even if installed. When your subscription ends, you won’t be able to play them anymore, regardless of installation. Renewing restores access, but only if the game remains part of your subscription. With Steam’s free model, it usually allows indefinite use after adding a license before expiration. Occasionally, time-limited deals make games available until a specific date. In rare cases, legal restrictions may remove games from Steam entirely, preventing downloads even with a license, though existing installations still let you play.
There are numerous options available, so it's important to understand the specific examples from the platform you're referring to. Game Pass offers access to certain games for a limited period, and continued play requires a purchase afterward.
