X58 Xeon Overclocking
X58 Xeon Overclocking
Hey there, just planning to buy an Xeon X5675 for around 30 pounds on eBay and pair it with a Cooler Master 212 Hyper Evo. I'm curious about the safe operating temperature range for the processor when using the CM-212 cooler. Cheers!
Wow! That high on a budget air cooler? Woops, I didn't read that part—what I quoted was about a 240mm water cooler.
The extent of safe overclocking depends on temperature rather than clock speed. Raise the speed in increments until reaching approximately 80c under full load, and avoid exceeding that point.
I'm just starting out with overclocking and I'm curious about how much higher my performance could get.
I couldn't give you a definite answer, probably around four or higher?
There are numerous elements at play, and not all CPUs behave identically.
You'll need to test it yourself.
