hey everyone, so I have my eye on this x58 motherboard that is for sale quite cheap, it's an ASUS P6T premium motherboard, I was wondering if anybody knows it has support for ECC ram? I have heard it supports non registered ECC but I am unsure if this is the case. The reason I was looking at this is to hopefully pick up a xeon and try and get it to 4ghz, with 32gb of ram. I am wondering about ECC as it is typically heaps cheaper than standard desktop ram. a photo of the board:
I performed a search using the product name in the image and navigated to the official page. I downloaded the user manual and reviewed its contents. The document mentions "non-ecc ram," which seems to be an error in the product description.

I own a board with a very similar setup. I've used both mixed ECC and non-ECC drives for years, but now it has four Corsair XMS3 1600MHz non-ECC sticks and two Kingston 1333MHz ECC sticks all running at the same 1600MHz without any issues. Most budget ECC drives are registered, which doesn't fit these boards. Non-registered ECC works perfectly fine. X58 requires triple channel memory, so 32GB isn't ideal. The best setup is either 24GB or 48GB based on your memory needs.
