Because the GPU is located in the second X16 slot, it will operate at x8 regardless of other factors. This shouldn't impact performance. You have flexibility to place the sound card anywhere without affecting results.

I wouldn't install the soundcard unless necessary. The built-in audio performs well now, and the board includes a solid audio codec. Which GPU are you running? Also keep in mind when using a 2.5 or triple slot card—it can be positioned near the side panel, which might impact temperatures.
