Hey there, I’m looking to upgrade and have a Ryzen 3900X with 16GB RAM. I’m trying to pick a mainboard but most X570 boards seem pricey to me. I ended up choosing two options that look good: one with WiFi and BT 5.0, plus USB-C, priced around 142€ for MSI B450 Pro Carbon AC and 230€ for ASUS X570 TUF Gaming Plus Wifi. There’s still a gap of about 90€ between them. My concern is whether the 90€ more expensive ASUS board can actually support my processor, or if the B450 Pro Carbon is better suited for it. I just want to avoid overspending on something that doesn’t deliver extra performance.

Improved VRMs in greater numbers. Reduced risk of overheating under heavy loads. I think you'll need a board capable of managing high current, especially if it runs continuously. That makes sense?

You're definitely capable of achieving this. Simply purchasing a higher-end board will likely improve performance with a 12-core CPU. If you're not aiming to push overclocking limits, a B450 board should suffice. To be truthful, why are you opting for a Ryzen 9 3900? For gaming and light streaming, a 3700x would work just fine. Until recently, games ran smoothly on systems with under 4 cores, so an 8-core unit should last 2-3 years for casual play. The key to good gaming is strong single-core performance. A 3900x offers that at a price point where speed isn't the main concern, making it suitable for most gamers over the next few years.

I thought a 3900X would provide extra capacity, around four more cores, for extended use. Right now, it offers the best value in terms of core count at 429€. It's cheaper than the 3700X at 289€. Will the 3700X still suffice for gaming and streaming over the next five to six years?
