X470 and a reflection on it
X470 and a reflection on it
You currently have an MSI X470 gaming pro with a Ryzen 7 2700X and a 5700X. Since you haven’t upgraded your BIOS yet, updating it to the latest version from MSI could help improve stability and performance. However, upgrading might introduce compatibility issues if not done carefully. Weigh the benefits against any potential risks before proceeding.
If your system operates smoothly—memory running at optimal levels without issues—I wouldn’t bother. Each BIOS update presents a small chance of damaging it, even if minimal. Consider it a major medical intervention. If the advantages don’t justify the dangers, skip it. Here, there’s no value with added risk.
Occasionally it works, occasionally it leads to enhancements.
I was exaggerating just to highlight the idea, but I remain confident in my view. If it’s already working well, don’t interfere. There could be other solutions. But if the advantages are minimal—so little the user won’t even notice—and the outcome remains unchanged or worsens, then doing nothing is fine. I think it would help to explore what the user might actually gain by proceeding. Check the release notes from the BIOS release date of your system and see if any seem strong motivations. For me, some solid reasons include RAM stability improvements, better RAM compatibility or speed fixes, stability enhancements, security updates, and CPU expansion support.
They must investigate the possible advantages before deciding. Absolutely not ignoring this step.
