X370 MSI Gaming Carbon model with VGA problems on PCI-E interface
Hello everyone, I'm working with an unraid server on older hardware, and everything seems to be functioning properly so far. Now I'm trying to add a second and possibly a third GPU for use in VMs or hardware acceleration for dockers. So far, I haven't encountered any issues. Whenever I connect a PCI-E X1 card into slots 1 or 3, nothing happens. (The BIOS LED for VGA is also active.) I've reached out to MSI directly, but their support seems unresponsive, as if they're not actually addressing the problems. The cards I'm using are tested in the X16 slot, which currently has a 1050Ti and works well. A PCI-E1 and PCI-E3 card have also been tested with a GbNIC and function correctly. All tested cards on the X16 slot and PCI-E x1 slots operate without issues. Since everything checks out individually, I suspect the issue lies in a BIOS configuration. Would it help to try using the second or third X16 slot instead? The second one is occupied by a SAS controller, and the third is disabled because I'm using both M.2 slots. Mainboard: MSI x370 Gaming Pro Carbon CPU: Ryzen 1700 Memory: 4x 8GB GSKILL @3000MHz Population by slot: top to bottom - Radeon 4350 X1 GTX 1050 Ti X16 Gb NIC X1 SAS controller X4 Empty (planning to add GT710) Disabled Tried settings: PCI lanes from x16 to 4x4 And that's about all I've managed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I also faced issues with multiple GPUs on my MSI B450 Carbon AC. (RX 5700 XT Red Devil, Zotac GTX 1660 Super). The system would launch and then freeze on the VGA display, so I tried various cards but it didn’t resolve the problem. In my case, a failing hard drive caused the boot to lock onto the VGA port. After replacing it, the same GPUs worked fine and the system started normally. I still don’t understand why the VGA boot point appeared instead of another option.

It would suck if its a harddrive issue, as well, its my unraid system now, and i have . . . 2 SSD's, 2 m.2's and 6 HDD's connected :S (everything sata is connected to the SAS controller), if what you say holds true to me, it would mean there's an issue with either M.2 . . . Hope others have more positive idea's
