I bought a used 2009 MacBook for £140 and installed a 120GB Sandisk SSD Plus. The performance feels similar or slower than the original drive. Since it uses a SATA 2 interface, I thought I’d get about half its capacity, which I’m seeing around 250MB/s on read and 60-70MB/s on write. It seems closer to 200MB/s for writes, but the listing shows up to 400MB/s for reads. Is there an option in MacOS to optimize the SSD for better speed? I’ve already turned on Trim.

You're using BlackMagic Speed Test, and the trim setting is active. The performance has improved slightly, reaching approximately 80MB/s. Current read speeds remain near 250MB/s.
