i own a pc purchased for 1359 USD. it comes with an intel b460m msi mortar, samsung ddr4 2666 8x2gb zotac rtx 3070 oc crucial mx 500, 500gb seagate 7200rpm 2tb, and 600w power. it has the intel general cooler. my friend bought a machine for 635 USD with an amd 3500 a320m, ddr4 2666mhz 8x2gb inno3d gtx 1660 super wd green, 240gb ssd, and 500w power. he used the amd general cooler too. we tested minecraft 1.8.9 forge with identical settings and same ram, and you see the difference—he won. how could this be? i even overclocked my gpu!
Minecraft is mainly CPU-intensive, so your processors are closely matched. The vanilla version doesn't heavily rely on GPUs, meaning a 1660 and 3070 can handle it similarly with matching CPUs. Using mods like Optifine will significantly affect performance. For fair comparison, settings need to be identical. If one is rendering at 24 chunks while another stays at 14, the difference in frames will be noticeable. The impact of drivers on Minecraft performance is uncertain.

Thanks for the update. The game had a completely different narrative this time.
