So I haven't played Skyrim for years now. I played it like more than 60hrs but haven't really finished the main story, so I would like to play it again. However since I have the old version, I'm getting physic errors as I'm using a 165hz monitor. I tried googling it but is there a way to lock the framerates to 60fps just for skyrim? I find it really tedious to change the framerates from 60 to 165 and back every time I run skyrim.

Skyrim adjusts itself to maintain 60 frames per second by default.

It really reaches up to 165fps for me. The unlisted version is available on Steam if that would assist.

I recall the earlier release of Skyrim would automatically adjust to whatever display refresh rate was available; Special Edition limits it to 60. It’s unclear how to achieve this in the other version, but I had a control on my monitor that let me switch between 60, 90 and 120Hz before the update arrived.

I really don't want to purchase the special edition because I already own the older version. However, I discovered a solution recently—it appears it's available in the NVIDIA control panel all along. Saved me about 5 hours of searching through mods and fixes when NVIDIA already had the feature. Great to know. Thanks!
